The Oahe Family YMCA was founded in the early 1970s and has been serving the Pierre/Ft. Pierre area for over 40 years. The YMCA is a non-profit, 501(c)3 organization governed by a Board of Directors made up of local volunteers. The purpose of the Oahe Family YMCA is to serve the Pierre/Ft. Pierre area through programs that provide a positive, safe environment and supports the development of the basic core values of Honesty, Respect, Resposibility and Caring. The YMCA is dependent on caring volunteers and generous donors to complete its mission of serving the Pierre/Ft. Pierre area.
No one is turned away from the inability to pay for membership or programs. In 2020 we provided over $94,000 in scholarships and sliding fees so that over 600 youth, families and senior citizens could participate in YMCA programs.
