The Stanley County Commission is now accepting applications for the position of Stanley County Director of Equalization. This position is appointed by the County Commission and is responsible for the discovery, lists and values of all real property within Stanley County for property taxation purposes. This includes identifying properties to be appraised to determine market value of taxable properties, using methods such as field inspection, conducting on sight inspections of residential, mobile homes, commercial, industrial and agricultural classes of property, structural measurements, calculation, and sales analysis. The Director of Equalization is required to have or obtain a Certified Assessor Appraiser (CAA) designation within one year of appointment. Strong computer knowledge is necessary to use the County software system. Applicants must also become familiar with numerous State laws concerning taxable properties, and have the ability to read and understand legal descriptions, plats and the soil survey system. This position interacts with the community and outside entities so the applicant must have the ability to interact well with the public. The Director of Equalization also acts as the Stanley County Planning & Zoning Administrator. This includes: accept applications for building permits, variances, rezoning and administers the county zoning and floodplain ordinances; responsible for facilitating P&Z Board meetings; and coordination with the County Commission. Starting salary will be between $40,000 and $45,000, DOQ, with benefits. Open until filled.
