Welcome to Fort Pierre. Our warm and welcoming small town in South Dakota is just a short skip and a hop off of I-90, nestled right up to the Missouri River. We have fun for everyone, whether you’re casting a line off a dock, snagging a bite to eat at one of our local eateries, or enjoying our endless outdoor recreation, life on the Missouri can’t be beat.
To give you a little insight on our small town, we need to take a look into our history. Established in 1890, Fort Pierre, to this day, is the oldest continuously occupied white settlement in South Dakota. From the French Verendrye explorers to Scotty Philip, the man who “single-handedly saved the American buffalo,”you can experience all of the history right here in Fort Pierre.
